Emergency Exit Floor Plans
For all buildings two units or more, in which unit entry doors open into a shared or common interior hallway, building floor plans showing emergency exis are provided to resident households at the commencement of the tenancy. Generally the laminated building emergency exit plan is affixed to the inside of the apartment hallway closet door or the inside of the closet door closest to the unit entrance.
Resident Household Emergency Exit Drills
Residents are encouraged to no less than annually review the floor plan and familarize themselves with the emergency exits closest to their apartment from the various rooms of their apartment. Some exits may be through a window where an emergency exit ladder can be accessed. Resident households should at least annually conduct a family emergency exit drill, together idenfitying exit routes and discuss locations outside the building where family members should meet after exiting the building in the event of an emergency. Don’t forget to consider family pets and their exit plans when conducting your drill!

If you require a laminated version of the exit plan, contact your on-site manager or the main office and follow up your request in writing. Laminated plans will be provided to resident households annually on a no-charge basis. More frequent requests will incurr a nominal charge.
I’M OK Emergency Door Hanger
At the same time, you can also request a replacement I’M OK blue door hanger. The door hanger is intended to be used in the event of a building emergency when the manager conducts their unit by unit inspection. To avoid the manager from entering your unit after the emergency, merely place the I’M OK door hanger on your exterior door knob, indicating you are OK and do not need assistance. Your apartment will not be entered.
