A camera is a property managers best friend. It documents the status or condition of a unit during an inspection or takes pictures to help you advertise an apartment. But today’s video cameras allow you to expand the role of the camera in your property management business. Now, your Video Camera can become a part of your daily routine and not merely delegated to inspections or marketing tasks.
The size and convenience and picture quality of the FLIP makes it the perfect daily tool for a property manager. I carry and use mine every day. When I come across some thing that requires attention - I video it. I can use stills from the video if I need a one-off photo. And, if I need to remind myself of a task, I just use the video recorder like a memo recorder, verbally detailing the task I need to accomplish as a part of the video.
The Flip Mino has just enough power and storage to get you though the day. If you are a heavy user (for example a manager who visits many buildings in a single day or the manager of a large complex), you may need the larger capacity Flip, which gives you TWO hours of batter time and has the ability to use AA batteries when necessary. At the end of the day, you off-load your video and charge your Flip overnight. The next morning you are again ready for the day.
The single reason we have given the Flip 4 rather than 5 Lights is the zoom close up feature. On occasion the lack of flexibility regarding the close up can be a minor inconvenience. But the size, weight, and capacity of the FLIP far outweigh any downside.
We like the FLIP so much, we purchased one for each of our on-site managers. Now when we need to see the condition of something at a property, we can get video sent to our office within minutes of the discovery of a problem. In many instances the video is as good as being on-site. And, we have a permanent record of what we discovered or saw.
This is an item to puschase ASAP as it is that good! We highly recommend it. In fact, I now own the Flip Mino HD, as well as the just released, larger capacity Flip Ultra HD which I use routinely in my capacity as an Expert Witness during building and unit inspections.
